Celebrating the dedication of Yohane Fontela

Yohane Fontela’s story is one of commitment, resilience, and service to his community and his love for the environment
Having grown up close to the reserve, Yohane understands first-hand the challenges and opportunities facing communities living alongside protected areas. After leaving school, he began his journey here as an Extension Officer, working directly with local people and helping turn ideas into practical action.

Today, Yohane supports communities living around the forest by providing training, helping implement development projects, and working alongside people to create opportunities for rural development. His work also contributes to efforts to reduce deforestation and combat wildlife crime by helping communities understand the importance of protecting the natural resources they depend on.

What stands out most is his dedication. Yohane works hard, listens to communities, and puts his knowledge and experience into action. His commitment to the people he serves is helping create positive change and improve lives.
We are proud to recognise the important work he is doing for communities, conservation, and the future of rural areas.

Thank you for your service Yohane!
