Lynn just sent us this video and we thought it was interesting enough to post here. It covers several days and shows the ability of the new trail cams to capture videos in the dark. WAG’s old cams would have missed this entirely. Of note is that the videos show many of the elies eating. They almost never stop feeding even when walking. Elephants spend 16-20 hours each day feeding. An elephant’s digestive system is very inefficient with about 40% of everything they eat passing through undigested so they have to consume a lot to support their immense bulk. Their prodigious appetite is beneficial to the environment because it keeps the thick brush under control
