Elefence International, Inc. is a much respected American 501(c)3 NGO with 26 years experience targeting Human-Elephant Conflict (HEC) in Africa – the number one threat to the protection of the elephant from annihilation. Elefence trustees come from all walks of life with unique and special talents.
Elefence is committed to help resolve HEC in Africa by protecting the endangered ecosystem that sustains both the local people and wild animals. Our primary mission is building solar powered electric fences to protect the local population from marauding elephants thereby eliminating the need to kill the elephants.
Building fences is not easy in rural Africa as it involves the cooperation of individual villages, the government departments of wildlife and natural resources and creating strong partnerships with local NGOs. To secure local support Elefence has installed water wells, supported forest rangers in anti poaching activities and provided scholarships for impoverished children who cannot afford a secondary education.
We attain our mission by having created fund raising opportunities to complete projects with our partners in Malawi, Zimbabwe, and Zambia.
